I love sunnies and hats. My problem is finding a combo that looks good together.

I love Raybans, but it is hard to pick a hat that goes with them - I'm short and fat so can hardly carry off a hipster flat straw hat. Do you have some recommended cute hat-and-sunnies matches, as the ozone hole is bigger than Elvis this year.

The first thing is to find a hat that suits you. Matching (or mismatching if you are so inclined) your sunnies to your hat comes down to personal style, but I can give you a few pointers.

Your hat should be no wider than the width of your shoulders. Broad shoulders equals wide brim hat; narrow shoulders equals a short brim hat.

Here are your best styles:

Square faces: Bowler hats, berets, and asymmetrical brims or hats worn tilted off to one side. Wide floppy brims are good on square jawlines.

Oval faces: Hats with a deep crown like cloches (deep 1920s-style bucket hats) and hats that cover your forehead are good. Avoid tall, narrow hat shapes as they will accentuate your long face.

Round faces: Tall, shallow or peaked crowns, or creased crowns like fedoras. Asymmetrical brims, wide brims. Oval faces: Any hat shapes are fine for you.

Heart faces: Wear small hats high on your head with an eye-catching trim to draw the eye upwards.

Think about the mood you want to create when matching your sunglasses to your hat. Cool? Wear Wayfarer style with a funky fedora or bowler. Vintage cutesy? Wear pebble sunglasses with a straw boater. Glamour? Try oversized glamorous sunnies with a large floppy hat. Street? Large, dark square frames and a straw fedora.
