Jennifer Love Hewitts mother, Patricia, dies at age 67
Jennifer Love Hewitts mother, Patricia, has died at the age of 67.
Patricia, Hewitts greatest supporter, had been battling cancer. She passed away on Tuesday, The Client List stars representative announced Thursday, reports People.
"Her family mourns her loss," the statement reads. "She was an angel to all who knew her and they are grateful she is now in a better place. They ask for privacy at this difficult time. No further details are being provided."
Us Weekly reports that Patricia, who was a speech pathologist, is survived by Hewitt, 33, and her son, Dr. Todd Hewitt.
Patricia was a major influence in Hewitts life, helping her pursue an acting career by moving to Los Angeles in 1989. A year later, Hewitt joined the cast of Kids Incorporated and subsequently starred in several hit films and TV series.
Hewitt chose to keep her mothers illness private, notes People. She told the magazine two years ago, when she starred in the Lifetime TV movie version of The Client List, that her mother thought the role of a prostitute was hilarious.
"She was like, 'So let's review ... For 15 years people have been talking about your boobs. Earlier this year, you wrote about your hoo haw in a book. Now you're playing a crack ho on TV.' She was like, 'Do you think maybe you could do an animated movie next?' Hewitt told People at the time.
In an interview with Parade, Hewitt said that during her career, I've tried not to act too crazy or disrespect the opportunities that I have been given or the people that have believed in me...I've been really blessed and I don't necessarily know what! keeps o ne person here longer than somebody else, but I couldn't feel more grateful."
